Mark Burgess is the director of the Brussels office of the World Security Institute (WSI).
Previously, Burgess was a research analyst at the Center for Defense Information – a division of WSI, where he also led the Terrorism Project. While his main research area is the study of terrorism, Burgess, has also written and spoken extensively on a variety of other security issues, including peacekeeping and the war in Iraq, and has been published and quoted in a wide range of U.S. and international outlets. His latest publications include the entries on "Peacekeeping," "The War on Terrorism,"and "Homeland Security" in the newly released Encyclopedia of War and American Society (Sage Publications, 2006). In addition to heading WSI Brussels, he continues to manage the CDI Terrorism Project.
